Cross River State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has affirmed the destruction of more than 50 shops after Monday's fire occurrence at the Yoruba segment of Watt market in Calabar.
Mr John Inaku, SEMA Director General, who revealed this after an evaluation visit to the zone on Tuesday, said the reason for the fire was as yet unknown.
"Up till now, the reason for the fire is as yet obscure; more than 50 shops were influenced amid the unfortunate occurrence."
"I am here on the mandates of the State Government to determine the reason for the episode and to report back with the goal that something should be possible to ease the predicaments of the casualties."

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the fire influenced generally electrical, arrangement, gems and book shops in the market.
NAN additionally reports that no setback was recorded as a result of the fire outbreak.
