The Board of Commissioners of Liberia’s National Elections Commission (NEC) has maintained Tuesday's decision of NEC Question Hearing Officer which expelled grievances of misrepresentation against the Oct. 10 presidential races.
The hearing officer, Mr Muana Ville, had destroyed the protests recorded by the Freedom Gathering (LP) and its presidential competitor, Mr Charles Brumskine, for absence of proof.
The complainants are looking for a rerun of the Oct. 10 decisions, which they charged were damaged by enormous misrepresentation and inconsistencies executed by the races commission.
In its decision conveyed on Friday and distributed on the NEC site, the board said the complainants neglected to demonstrate their claim of misrepresentation against the commission.
"The Preeminent Court has characterized extortion as the work of trap, cunning or misdirection to cheat or delude another.
"It isn't adequate to only claim extortion as a reason for alleviation, it must be set up by confirmation," the board said.
It concurred that some "transposing mistakes" happened amid the Oct. 10 decision, however they were revised.
The board held that such mistakes couldn't have constituted misrepresentation since they didn't influence the general result of the decisions.
"As needs be, we hold that the Hearing Officer did not fail, and the first and second appealing party for a rerun of the Oct. 10 decisions is thus denied.
"Wherefore and in perspective of the prior, appellants request is thus denied.
"The Hearing Officer's last governing in these procedures is therefore affirmed and reaffirmed and it is thus so requested," the board asserted.
The decision Solidarity Gathering (UP) and its presidential hopeful, Mr Joseph Boakai, who is the nation's occupant VP, are supporting LP in its offer for a rerun of the races.
Legal counselors speaking to the two political gatherings (UP and LP) said they would take an interest to the Incomparable Court, as per nearby media.
By the arrangement of Article 83 of the Liberian Constitution, the bothered gatherings have seven days to record their interest to the Incomparable Court.
The peak court, thus, has a greatest of seven days to audit the board's decision and make its assurance.
On Oct. 31, the Preeminent Court issued a stay arrange on the overflow presidential decisions prior slated for Nov. 7, pending the result of NEC's listening ability into the protestations.
