Nigerian govt bans customs from seizing rice in business sectors

The Government has asked the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) to quit striking markets to seize imported rice. 


Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun, made the divulgence yesterday in a visit with State House reporters after a gathering of the Federal Executive Council (FEC). 

She revealed that government has endorsed N1.12 billion for the buy of 50 operational "hostile to rice pirating" vehicles to check the constant sneaking of the ware into the nation". 

Her words: "We felt that it is critical we don't need customs going to seize rice in the market. 

"Customs ought to really act to stop rice coming in at the outskirt posts and traditions showed that they require extra vehicles, extra assets and obviously other more data driven systems to stop it." 

Adeosun clarified that the obtainment of the operational vehicles was additionally intended to prevent traditions authorities from attacking markets to seize pirated rice and hassling dealers. 

"The second approval was for the buy of 50 vehicles and they will be sent for a hostile to rice pirating team that is being assembled which traditions will lead," she included.
