Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara, has depicted the passing of Alhaji Yusuf Maitama Sule as a great misfortune to the African mainland.

Dogara, in an announcement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Turaki Hassan, said despite the fact that the late Dan Masanin Kano was of age, the miserable news of his passing came to him as a stun. 

He said: the Danmasani was a mammoth, nationalist, father to all, and recognized senior statesman who composed his name in gold in the archives of Nigeria's history. 

"From battle for autonomy to his stewardship as a Federal MP, Federal Commissioner of open objections, to his administration as Nigeria's changeless Representative to the United Nations, Alhaji Maitama Sule' s record of open administration was magnificent, praiseworthy and deserving of imitating. 

"Indeed, even in seniority, confronted with wellbeing challenges, the late senior statesman never yielded in building scaffolds of fellowship, peace and lecturing love among Nigerians. 

"Without a doubt, he was a symbol of peace, straightforwardness, a conceived speaker, loyalist and a recognize statesman who gave his for the solidarity and success of Nigeria as one resolute country. 

"His passing is an amazing and immense misfortune to Nigeria and for sure the African landmass, in perspective of his commitments to the battle against politically-sanctioned racial segregation in South Africa. 

"Shockingly, Maitama Sule kicked the bucket when his elderly shrewdness, experience, and profound feeling of patriotism are genuinely necessary in our nation, given the way that we are going through a testing stage in our history as a country. 

"Our exceptional and ardent sympathy goes to his close family, the general population and legislature of Kano State even as we join all Nigerians and individuals of goodwill in grieving this fantastic misfortune."
